As if the monumental failure of his uber-liberal cable news network (CNN) isn't startling enough evidence of a substandard mind, Ted Turner gave a speech at Kansas State University which completely removed all doubt that he has no grasp of reality.
From the AP:
Turner complained that Iraq today, sans Hussein, is "no better off" than it was before the invasion that freed the iraqi people. I guess human rights, gender equality, an absence of state sponsored thuggery -- these aren't things to be celebrated in Turner's eyes.
The guy completely misunderstands the human heart and what drives people. Like every other bleeding heart ninny from his generation, he thinks that talking and mediation can solve every problem. He completely discounts that fact that some people are just evil and need to be blown up.
Proving that he hasn't had an original idea in 40 years, "Turner said the situation in Iraq is serious but not hopeless. He raised concerns about global overpopulation, poverty and hunger. He also called for nuclear disarmament." (AP) Is Jimmy Carter feeding him cue cards? This tired, stupid strategy DOESN'T WORK. Cue the fat lady on the charge that curing poverty and weakening our military will cause world peace to just happen. In a world without nukes, aggression would be at the bayonet-point and would spread locally, unhindered.
More AP: "He said the U.S. and Russia still have thousands of nuclear weapons pointed at each other on a 'hair trigger.' He said if he were in charge _ making it clear he wasn't and never would be _ 'we'd be rid of them.'" Um yea. There's a scary thought. This guy in charge of anything. Make this guy president so the US could lose market share to Fox and the internet too. Let's see what else he can run into the ground.
If you haven't been scared by a Liberal in the last ten minutes, then here's your daily dose.
Turner still thinks that global nucular catastrophe is a possibility. He doesn't trust the govenment to keep a highly secure black box locked and put away, but he trusts the same government to take all your money and do good things with it. He thinks nukes will "kill everything on the planet" in a short span of time. He thinks the president is too stupid to have such power at his command. "You have to question ... the president on a lot of decisions he's made," Turner said. "He might just think launching those weapons would be a good thing to do. ... He thought Iraq was."

Hmm, so because the president is successful at prosecuting wars that democrats and Europe agree should happen... and because he got better grades than John Kerry... and because he values the sanctity of all life with a Christian fervor... and because he has shown a tremendous amount of self-control, never lashing back at his legion of unfounded critics... because of all this, he's likely to do something stupid and knee-jerk and push the button. What planet does this cretin live on?

Turner reverted to the old hippie playbook, copping the "war doesn't solve anything, man, can I take a hit?" argument. "You would think that we would have learned that in Vietnam," he said (referring to the inability of war to solve international conflict). Yes let's recall vietnam, you dope smoking time capsule. Your wife was straddling commie artillery providing moral support to the enemies of the United States of America. And what did you learn? Nothing. I'm reminded of that quote, "WAR NEVER SOLVED ANYTHING except for slavery, genocide, fascism, Nazism, imperialism, communism, oppression and soon terrorism." Turner must've slept through his history courses.
To summarize his moronic rant, Turner also said the mandate of future nations will be derived from education, health care, and science and technology. He encouraged us to spend more in these areas and less on military might. So we invent all this great stuff, but have no military. Then Canada invades us, we have Mounties overrunning the capitol, and they take all our cool technology. Then maybe Ted Turner can get installed as Minister of Cable News, and decree that Fox be destroyed. I bet then he can get a few interested viewers. A few.
